Step Into My Mind…

When My Voice Is Weak, I’ll Let Music Speak October 17, 2011

It has been a long time coming.. seriously, I haven’t posted something new for almost a year now. That is kind of crazy to me.

But it isn’t because nothing has happened in my life this past year, but maybe because too much has happened for me to even begin to share…

Sometimes our words are just not enough and even in their vastness cannot begin to express what we have seen with our eyes, felt with our hearts, and thought with our minds…
I guess that is where I’m at now.

So instead of giving you a bunch of stuff to read, I rather share a bunch of songs that I’ve been into lately or for a while now…
Some songs you’ll love, and some you’ll hate, I’m sure. You can share your opinions if you’d like. lol
But just to make things very clear, not one song defines me or totally expresses what I’m feeling or anything of that sort…some of them are just simply songs I like. I don’t necessarily agree with everything they communicate either, but for whatever reason, I enjoy them. That’s all…

And I just want to share them with whoever wants to listen…

Time Whispers December 31, 2010

With the New Year RIGHT around the corner, I figured this would be an appropriate time to share a little poem I wrote. Also, this blog is dedicated in memory of my dear friend and brother in Christ, Haig Diradourian, who passed away on December 23, 2010. You are deeply loved and missed. I write in hopes that you will all learn from Haig’s life and death and appreciate your own lives and the lives of others around you… (more…)

Christians are like Vampires May 18, 2010

Christians and Vampires? Can there be any more of an unrelated topic to one another? You may be asking yourselves this question. BUT, there is somethnig that I have discovered.

I have already watched Twilight and New Moon, and I have read Twilight, some of New Moon, and some of Midnight Sun (I’m working on getting the whole series done soon). After all of this, something became very clear to me, particularly when I was reading Midnight Sun, which is essentially the book of Twilight from Edward Cullen’s perspective…

It is so utterly fascinating when one reads from Edward’s perspective. It gives new insight and gives a fuller picture of how much he was truly struggling to not attack Bella and suck her delicious and warm blood right out of her.

As I dove deeper into this concept of struggle that Edward experienced, I realized that this is a lot like what Christians experience. He eplained, in Midnight Sun, that when he first took a whiff of Bella’s scent, it hit him suddenly and unexpectedly. He had not taken a human life, due to his craving of their blood, for about 80 years, and now he was turning into that vicious monster that he despised. (more…)

Fatal Vampire Attraction May 2, 2010

Blood suckers, cold ones, nightwalkers…how pleasant! Really? No, NOT REALLY!!! But WHY oh whyyyy do we LOVE them OH SO MUCH?

What is it about Vampires that captivates us and draws us to them? I have one theory, it is their power to completely control and destroy you, yet to choose not to. (Which most don’t choose not to, they just suck your blood and kill you)…

No this is not about the “Hate It or Love It” song by 50 Cent and the Game, this is about light.

This is simply a post of encouragment for all of you Believers out there to fear not and to keep shinning your light. A lot of times we find ourselves in dark places and we ponder about this dark and corrupt world we live in which is filled with all kinds of wickedness and evil, and we tend to get overwhelmed at times and even begin to fear. It can also become a hindrance and even paralyze us from moving forward.

I absolutely adore this song by Robert Pattinson.

I should never think
What’s in your heart
What’s in our home
So I won’t

You’ll learn to hate me
But still call me baby
Oh Love
So call me by my name

And save your soul
save your soul
Before you’re too far gone
Before nothing can be done

I’ll try to decide when
She’ll lie in the end
I ain’t got no fight in me
In this whole damn world
Telling you to hold off
She said hold on
It’s the one thing that I’ve known

Once I put my coat on
And how I know it’s all wrong
She’s standing outside holding me
Saying oh please
I’m in love
I’m in love

Girl save your soul
Save your soul
Before you’re too far gone
And before nothing can be done

‘Cause without me
You got it all
So hold on
Without me you got it all
So hold on
Without me you got it all
Without me you got it all
So hold on
Without me you got it all
So hold on
Without me you got it all
So hold on
Hold on

This is a very recent story of an angry man named Joseph Stack (age 53). This story is too interesting and upsetting for me and I just have to post about it. You can get the full story about him here at this link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_plane_crash_texas

I write about him because he was a man like a lot of us, filled with a lot of anger and a feeling of hopelessness. In fact, he was so tired of life that he flew his single-engine Piper Cherokee into an International Revenue Service (IRS) building. It was a building that housed an IRS office and about 200 IRS employees.

Let’s Talk About Death Baby! November 30, 2009

If you have not noticed yet, I am fascinated by the subject of death (NOTE: I am not trying to minimize the pain and hurt someone feels when they have a loss, not at all. My heart and prayers go out to those who have lost loved ones. It is so tough, that’s why I want to share this with you). It is such a deep and profound topic and we try to ignore or avoid it, yet it is inevitable. Why is it so difficult to talk about death when we know it is bound to happen to each and every one of us? Have you ever had a serious conversation with someone else about death….about your own death?

Favorite Twilight Trailer November 26, 2009

This is so hilarious; it made me laugh so hard. While I was actually in the theatres watching New Moon, one of the Vulturi said the word “Vampire” and all I could think of was this video for some reason, and I started to laugh. It was soo funny. I hope you all enjoy this…

This guy in the Trailer is named Guillermo from Jimmy Kimmel Live, and here is a scene from his show that I thought was hilarious as well, hope you enjoy. And if you do not want to watch the whole video, just scroll to the time 2:20 and watch from then on (that is the funny part)…

…It’s even funnier if they showed the rest that follows, because Guillermo starts chasing Kristen and Jimmy inercepts and tackles him to the ground! lol

Some people may find me strange after this post, but that’s alright with me. So, there’s this other song that reaches the deepest parts of my soul and just does something to me that I cannot explain.

This is the disturbing part, it may seem like just another song…but for me, it is almost like a worship song! I praise God and connect to Him in a really awesome and amazing way when I hear this song and sing along. (more…)

I Need You To Love Me. October 17, 2009

This is a song by Barlow Girl that has really been touching my heart for a long time now. Music does such a great job of reaching into your soul and spilling your guts out when you do not have the words yourself, at times.
This is one of those songs for me that I think a lot of us can relate to.

Oh Death, Where is your Sting? July 26, 2009

I’m sorry to inform you, but it’s alive and well!

Call_of_DeathPC

When has death been something that does not hurt?
We grieve, we mourn, we are sorrowful, we are confused, we weep and wail, we wonder why, and it never really leaves us deep down inside. Somewhere inside, underneath all of life’s distractions, we know we are destined to be men and women of sorrow, because death does sting us and death does have victory over us. Whether Christian or Non-Believer, everybody dies…and everybody hurts when someone close to us dies as well. (more…)

I’ve been working on a post about Death for a long time now, and have not had a chance to fully complete it all to post it up. So, I guess while I’m working on that, I wanted to share this random thought with you all.

Just the other week, my Professor for my Oceanography class made a statement. He said that, “When we stop learning, it means we’re dead”. And I nodded my head with no hesitation…I totally agreed with him and didn’t think much of it at all.

Is It Really Fair-Trade? June 6, 2009

chocolate_scar chocolate scars

I know that this is a really important issue for many people and the truth of the pictures of what some Africans go through is horrific. Trafficking and Slave Labor have become major issues that have been on the rise for a long time now and many people, organizations, and churches have made it a resposibility and priority of theirs to raise awareness of these major issues in our lifetime. I personally am one of those people who will actively speak against slavery and will do my best to raise awareness, but my purpose here is to challenge what we’ve been thinking about it lately.

So, during my last semester of school, I had a wonderful opportunity to paint. I just wanted to share these two with you. They do look a bit one-dimensional on here, I think they look way cooler in person, but whatever, you get the idea. I’m kind of proud of myself  lol. This one right here is a painting that I saw and kind of copied. It’s not exactly the same, obviously I put my own touches to it and it looks different, but I was really happy about it. Since this has become such a big fuss in the public’s eye, I thought it was worth mentioning…

It seems that the question Perez (an assumed openly homosexual man) gave to Miss California was not very complicated. It seems as if the obvious answer to the question about what Miss California thought about legalizing Gay Marriages would be simple. She should have given a “people-pleaser” answer if she really wanted that crown. But oh, God forbid she actually has a different opinion than what society has been trying to push upon us lately (actually for a while now)…

Promoting Alcoholism and Sexual Promiscuity? May 11, 2009

Tags: , , , , ,

I have been thinking a lot about this lately. Especially with Artur (our Pastor)  breifly mentioning this just this Sunday…I realized that I should write a blog about it.

We see promotion of Alcoholism and Sex everywhere, seriously, it is absolutely ridiculous. What I want to do is to give or show an example of this. My main focus here is music, specifically these two songs “Blame It” – Jamie Foxx and “Just Dance” – Lady Gaga because they have become really popular. These types of songs are fun and catchy and they get stuck in our heads. We end up singing along with them in the car on the radio and we spend the rest of the day humming and singing it.

Some of the images in their videos are dirty and I apologie for that, if you don’t want to watch it, that’s fine. But I just want to present the lyrics and the videos here just so you see what we are actually listening to and watching and the messages that we recieve and accept and tolerate unconsciously…

Here is “Blame It” by Jamie Foxx

They say that money can’t buy happiness, but I think that is a very flase statement! Yes, it is true that money can’t buy true friendship, money can’t buy love, and money can’t (necessarily) buy happiness (because I believe happiness is not on sale at Kmart or anything like that, meaning it is not a substance to be grasped but rather a felt emotion typically manifesting itself in a smile or a laugh)….but it sure can pay for things that make you happy! Right?

I Am Not A Hand, I Am A Foot! April 25, 2009

old-hands-and-tired-feet

This is something that has been on my heart now for a long time. I had just been waiting for the opportunity and time to write it. I think that people generally have expectations for one another: expectations of how others will act, what others will say, what their roles are, and so forth. I believe that expectations are inevitable and can either be good or bad. I also believe that people should look within themselves and see what kind of expectations they place on others and if they are reasonable expectations or not.

Well, it seems that I (and supposedly many others) have let people down recently (or for a while now). People have expected me to be a HAND, when in reality I am NOT a HAND, I am a FOOT! This lanugage of hands and feet comes from the Bible where it talks about the Church being the Body of Christ and how we all have different parts…

ROMANS 12:3-8

3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. Jesus Died Of Old Age April 11, 2009

Before you label me a heretic, actually read what I have to say. =)

old-agejesus-on-cross

I have been thinking about this a lot lately. After one Sunday service when Artur (our College/Career Pastor) said that Jesus didn’t have to die such a horrible death on the cross, He could have just died of old age. That made me think…

Really? Could Jesus have actually died of old age and that be sufficient enough to cover the sins of all humanity in the past, present, and future?

How interesting would the story have been if we read in the Bible that Jesus lived until age 85 and died of natural causes and was then laid in a tomb and after 3 days He rose again and conquered death? Is that really sufficient? Was His purpose here to simply die or was it to be the Suffering Servant as well? Is His “blood” that we sing about all the time “that makes us white as snow” simply referring to Him dying or did His blood actually have to be spilt?

So, the question here that I grapple with is whether Jesus’ death alone was enough, or did He have to suffer and did His body have to break and bleed for us as well? (more…)
